There were so many quotes in this book that I loved. Here's one of my favorites:
"You thought you were here to get stuff, prove yourself, and find people to love you. Instead you are here to get peace, be yourself, and find people to love. You thought you were here to fix the world. Instead you are here to appreciate what is before you and see the world through new eyes. You thought you were here to teach, while you are here to learn. Ultimately teaching and learning
are one. You cannot teach without learning and you cannot learn without teaching. When you teach only love, you learn only love. Then you graduate from the school of illusion and accept the diploma of inner peace, the real degree we are all here to attain."
The guy who narrates the audiobook talks veeerrrry slowly, but is appropriate to the importance of the concepts here. A great intro to ACIM.
I've heard a lot about A Course In Miracles for many years and have always been curious. It is a formidable book requiring at least a year of study. This book hardly makes it easy, but easier for sure. There are plenty of spiritual principles, and I hope to dive more into them some day. Basically choose love over fear every time and you come out okay. The guy who narrates the audiobook talks veeerrrry slowly, but is appropriate to the importance of the concepts here. Read as part of my ACIM journey and study, recommend reading alongside the original text and workbook - a truly worthwhile and involving book.

I've heard so many people quote A Course In Miracles like the Bible, I got curious about it. But when I got it from the library, it weight about 10 pounds and said it was a project for a year. I had checked it out for two weeks. Seemed hopeless, so I returned it.When I saw this book, it sounded perfect. And it was. It's a book that you can read one tiny section at a time if you want to. (Not all books work for that.) I read a section or two before bed each night, and each little tidbit gave me such a feeling of love and peace. Now I'm considering reading the actual book—but it feels good to know I don't have to. (And if I do, definitely on Kindle. No way I'm hauling the heavy paper one around!)
I feel like this the kind of book that you can read over and over, and every time, it will have the perfect timely perspective that was exactly what you needed at that moment. Love it.

Inner peace is your strongest platform to create global transformation. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Mother Teresa never made evil their enemy. They didn't fight people. Here is a formula for relief from pain that sounds simplistic, but is utterly profound: Stop doing what hurts you and start doing what heals you. It is only because you accept—even revere—suffering that it persists.

Jesus was more interested in bringing the man relief than in waiting for him to have perfect faith. Acting on partial faith leads to perfect faith. Partial faith is perfect in the sense that your belief is whole in the moment you mobilize it.

If you cannot claim perfect faith, claim perfect love. Belief in love is the most effective faith, because God is love. When you love sincerely, the power of the entire universe is behind you.

Faith in outer sources yields temporary success, but faith in our inner Source yields permanent success.

The fear-based mind seeks power from the world, while the love-based mind brings power to the world. When you accept your inherent majesty rather than attributing unmerited power to external agents, you will perform miracles that cannot be explained in any terms the world understands.

"Am I now closer to peace?" If so, your seeking has been worthwhile. If not, you must reevaluate where and how you are looking. The ego's motto is "Seek and do not find" (T-12.IV.1:4). It denies the reality of love and regards healing as a threat. Any answer is acceptable to the ego as long as it does not work. Is there another place to look that will end searching rather than reinforce it?

If you are hellbent on letting the ego run the show, you will attempt a multitude of solutions that don't work, resort to brute force, and find endless reasons to justify your limits. But if you value peace more than arrogance and success more

than struggle, you will turn to Higher Power for help and be open to receive it. And it will come.

"Please show me" is one of the most powerful prayers you can speak. But you must be open to Spirit's guidance rather than telling God how to run the show.

Better yet, turn to the Holy Spirit before you fall off the ship. You can avoid painful trials and errors by inviting Spirit to guide you at the outset of your decision-making process. Your impeccable guide will make decisions for you in ways far more rewarding than you can make for yourself.
Yellow highlight | Page: 119
When faced with any decision, imagine that you know already. Your task is not to roam the earth seeking someone smarter than you to tell you what to do. Your task is to dive into your heart and remember what you know.
Yellow highlight | Page: 119
You can discern between the advice of the Holy Spirit and that of the ego by noticing the feeling or energy the voice or advice generates. Spirit is founded in love. The ego operates from fear. Love feels good, light, and peaceful and brings relief. Fear feels bad, heavy, and limiting and deepens distress.
Yellow highlight | Page: 123
When you have learned how to decide with God, all decisions become as easy and as right as breathing. There is no effort, and you will be led as gently as if you were being carried down a quiet path in summer.

Higher Power will provide the ways and means to achieve your goal without any stress on your part. Work may be required. Fear never is.
I quite enjoyed some of the shorter, end chapters of the book, related to ego distractions, health, 'the end of the world', etc. I also liked the author's use of quick one-page notes on some of the FAQs that ACIM students have.

I quite enjoyed some of the shorter, end chapters of the book, related to ego distractions, health, 'the end of the world', etc. I also liked the author's use of quick one-page notes on some of the FAQs that ACIM students have.
On the other hand, for some reason, possibly the writing style, or perhaps the 'motivationa'/self-help spin on things, I found the book laborious to get through, despite its short length. There's a good amount of clique situations and stories thrown in, and I somehow get the feeling that the author's motivational coaching/self-help background comes through in places. No big deal, but just not my style of reading. I felt that some of the more profound ideas in ACIM, such as forgiveness, the holy instant, the dynamics of the ego & guilt, and working with the HS, were probably glossed over. The author really does motivate people to actually study ACIM (and do the workbook), but on the other hand, there will probably be the temptation for some readers to walk away from this book thinking 'OK, I got it all now.. no need to actually complete ACIM.. especially since this is all that it says'.
This would be a huge mistake, and taking the ego's bait (and switch).
Read this summary by all means, but do complete the Course as well.. there's a lot more to it than inside this 'Made Simple' introduction.
Still, kudos to the author (who seems committed) for writing this book that seems to have helped a good amount of ACIM students understand a little more, a little better.
...more
ACIM teaches that there is no sin. Sin is merely perceived and created in our own minds. That if and when we do sin against others, that we really actually didn't sin against them. And, no forgiveness is needed.
ACIM teaches that we are God, that when we hear the voice of God we are actually hearing from ourselves.
ACIM teaches that there is no "savior" outside of ourselves, thus making Jesus null and void.
ACIM teaches that the world around us is merely an illusion. That we have the power to create our own world each day. We are in control.
I can go on. But, I found much of ACIM to be a smorgasbord of spiritual soup. A mixture of Christian ideas, New Age thoughts, and with a tablespoon of psychology thrown in. While I don't have a problem with these things, it just isn't for me.

When I first tried reading ACIM years ago, I found it difficult to understand. This book translates the information into a level I can absorb.

We do not walk alonev (I will never leave you comfortless, your source has not abandoned you, peace is given the moment you ask for it.)
The goal is total freedom
The idea that we are in a body, denies us to understand that we are a spirit
The message of ACIM: Love is everywhere, as a being of love, so are we. When we look about us, and all that we see is heaven, then the course will have done its job. We will be released to be light.
All that is love, is for us to be ourselves.
1. Only god is real
2. All separation is illusion
3. We are an extension and expression of god. Everything god is, we are. Everything god is not, we are not. God is love, and only love and so are we.
4. Every thought we think, word we speak and action we take represents our choice between love and fear - choose love.
5. The purpose of the body is to communicate love - all other purposes of the body are in vain. Use your body to shine spirit into the world and it will be happy and healthy.
6. The ego is an extremely limited idea of who we are. It is not equipped to guide us and should not be consulted to make choices to bring us peace.
7. The holy spirit is the part of the mind connected with truth. Consult it to make wise choices and you will thrive.
8. Beyond the apparent world is the real world, where everything you desire and deserve exists. You can step into the real world at any moment by remembering your identity as a spiritual being.
9. There is no sin, there are only errors in consciousness. You are already forgiven. All that you believe must come of your sins will never happen
10. The purpose of all relationships is to make you happy. Appreciate and celebrate everyone for they are lovable as you are.
11. People who act unkindly, are calling for love. Evil has no power. Because it does not come from god. Love is the only power.
12. There is nothing you need to do, to earn salvation, you are worthy for what you are. You are already saved, you simply need to know it.
13. The univers is brimming with abundance, you have everything you need, right where you sand. You will always have all that you need.
14. Your only purpose on earth is to make it more like heaven.
15. Worry less and laugh more.
16. There is no death. You are an eternal being. Bodies come and go. But spirits is forever.

Wow!I have picked up ACIM in bookshops a number of times, flicked through its pages and then put it back on the shelf. Funnily enough, this book picks up on all the points that put me off. The weight of the paper, the hard to follow prose and the length.
What this book does is give an introduction and indeed a summarised over view of all the key points of ACIM. And it does it brilliantly. It makes the point that ACIM works at a heart and soul level, not an intellectual level. Therefore it doesn't really matter if you don't "understand" it as such because reading it and doing the exercises will heal and nourish at a far deeper level that is beyond intellect. The idea that this can be impactful at a more powerful level Than the intellect might sound preposterous. However, I know for other course if I have, this is often the most important way to "learn" because it works at a deeper level than ego.
The brilliance of this book is that even having never read ACIM, it's power is already impacting me just by reading this book. It has given the me the inspiration to buy and work through the ACIM and understand that along the way, it might not all make sense but to trust it WILL be deeply impactful. Even if you don't follow on to do ACIM, you should find that this will result in a shift as it has for me. This last week has had me glued to the book and I have made a few tens of minutes a day to read it. To say this week has been transformational for me is a complete understatement. Thank you Mr Cohen for writing this. I feel deeply grateful to you for doing so!
...moreI particularly enjoyed discussions about the interrelationship of fear and love, the absence of sin and therefore the casting out of regret and the negative impact special relationships can have in our lives.
As the book progressed however it was increasingly a discussion of what sounded to me to be a theology, with God at the center (you and God are one) and a hereafter that is not to be feared but revered. The religion is essentially a friendlier version of Christianity with a non-punishing God that encompasses you. Among its many teachings is the premise that all illness is due to a failing of your spirituality that requires only improvement in spirituality for cure. Medication and surgery unnecessary. If a revered death results that is the spiritual path. If severe morbidity results it is a failure of spirituality.
Much of the 2nd half deals with the topic of this relationship between spirituality and ALL disease as well as how to avoid resisting the teachings of ACIM by completing the workbook and focusing on the teachings therein.
For me the book was traveling many bridges too far.
If that is what you want you will be pleased with this book

With the help of Gabby Bernstein's books I have began a spiritual practice this year, and it has been incredible! All of Gabby's books mention A Course in Miracles and I had become so curious about what this Course actually was. After finally researching I realized that it wasn't just simply a book I could order on Amazon and read in a couple of weeks. And because I'm so new to my spiritual journey I did not have enough faith in myself to actually go through the course.
I did however see this book, A Course in Miracles MADE EASY, and thought it would be the perfect introduction to what the Course actually is.
I enjoyed the book. It gave me so many great points from the Course but it is written in an easy way for me to understand, and I liked that the book itself was not too long. It's a good way to get a little sneak peak into the Course and definitely had several great little nuggets that I will take with me.
I think in the new year I will take on the challenge of going through the ACIM workbook, and reading this book will have helped me understand the lessons more.

I bought the unabridged version in paperback, and couldn't wait for it to arrive. It gave me so much more.
I don't know whether I'll read the unabridged version front to back, but the pressure has eased to grasp every single line now that I feel comfortable with its ideas. I am actually even more excited for the reading experience and exercises, because it will just be a re-examining of what I've already dipped my toes into.
